Yesterday early in the morning I had been sitting in my living room chair in front of the big arch window in Our Treehouse. It truly is the best seat in the house. And there, down by the spring and the pond the sun was shining on the water, creating the illusion of millions of diamonds floating on the water’s surface. Of course, I had to go down there. Out of the house I went, and I took my phone to take pictures, just like the one above. I had to literally breathe it in, you know? Mother Nature had once again drawn me close to her, baiting me with her beauty, and catching me, hook, line, and sinker.

I consider myself very fortunate that I am a morning person. I understand we all are not. When I worked as a hospice nurse I thanked God for night nurses and that they had a different circadian rhythm than I did. We all have a pineal gland that is located in the middle of our brain. This gland produces melatonin, a hormone that functions to help us sleep, and most of us are programmed to sleep at night. I am grateful that I am one of those people because there is something so very special about a gorgeous morning. And sometimes I can take a morning very much for granted, and I really don’t want to do that.

As you can see by the picture there was just so much beauty to take in, both on the pond and in the sky. I was reminded of the words in a song, “Morning has spoken like the first morning, … sun lit from Heaven… mine is the morning.” The song is “Morning has Broken” and was written back in the early 1930’s, but I remember it as it was sung by Cat Stevens back in 1971. I was fourteen years young when I first heard him sing it. I loved it then and still love the song today.

I thought it was an important thing to do, to recognize and honor the morning with my writing. Yet the picture can say so much more. Now I am thinking of a song with the words “If a picture paints a thousand words”. So I look it up. Turns out a band named Bread sang that song, titled, “If”, also back in 1971. Hmmm. Every day, I learn so much.

What a beautiful picture! I am glad you grabbed your phone to take a picture. Yes, millions of diamonds floating right there on the lake. The sky is opening up to a positive expectancy for a wonderful day! I am grateful for the gift of my life each day. It does help to calm my mind when I focus on my gratitude and as you taught me – praying for others. Your bright light shines like the “diamonds” on the lake! Love to you, my friend!
