When I started writing on my own blog a few months ago I did it for several reasons:

  1. I love to write.
  2. I wanted to grow as a writer.
  3. I wanted to connect with other people as I share my thoughts from my every day life. (I love reading all your comments!)
  4. I wanted to post my own personal journey as I take each step to publish my book/books.

I already have an editor, Peggy Peterson. That beautiful Lady is polishing up my journal from Caring Bridge where as most of you know I wrote diary type entries after my surgery on my tongue and neck. My goal is to publish that journal into a book.

I have so much to learn! I have known this for quite some time. It’s all good though because I love to learn new things. I really, honestly do. I used to tell myself that when I first went to college at the age of eighteen, and again later at the age of thirty-three when I decided to go back to school to become a registered nurse. Back then it was not really the truth. School was tough, difficult and challenging. I not only went to college, I worked to pay my way through college. And the second time around I was not only working, I was a mom to my two young daughters. But I talked myself into the idea of learning new things and loving the process. As a R.N. that was one of my favorite things, I was usually learning something new every day.

That mindset, of loving to learn new things, is paying off big time now. I see myself and believe in myself as a very successful writer. Now, today. But the process of publishing a best-selling book… well, let’s be honest, I really don’t know beans about it. But I will learn, and because I see it, and believe in it, that takes away a lot of fear of the unknown.

A few months ago I signed up to receive email from Hay House Publishers because I think my book may be a good fit for them. And I wanted to attend a writer’s class they offer. I was placed on a waiting list. Two days ago I responded to an email inviting me to attend a Writer’s Bootcamp class on line. I sent a big YES back and to please sign me up. So next week, for four days, for two to three hours each day, I will officially be sitting in a student’s chair again. This time I truly will be loving to learn. As an added bonus the CEO of Hay House, Reid Tracy, will be answering questions from students with each class. Mr.Tracy was mentored under Louise Hay, the founder of Hay House. I have read about her life and greatly admire that beautiful Lady and all she accomplished.

I meditate every morning about my life as a writer, asking God to show me how to navigate this new road in my life. Monday morning I heard three things:

  1. All is well.
  2. Enjoy the journey.
  3. God IS the way.

I am listening. I am learning with my arms wide open. I am smiling.

I have reviewed the curriculum for the writer’s bootcamp. It’s a lot. I will review it again. Looks a little daunting, a little scary. But, hey, I’m not in this alone. I wasn’t alone when I was eighteen, nor when I was thirty-three.

Thank God when one loves to learn, one becomes a little wiser. :O)

c   Love, Joan
